 about

Hello!

Welcome to my website.  My name is Heather Lakers and I am the owner and artist of Lakers Art.

I got started painting and drawing about 2 years ago.  I went to my fist paint night in Denver, CO and fell in love with painting immediately!  From there, I went to many paint nights and learned and painted as much as I could. Then, I decided to take an art class, Intro to Acrylics, from MBodied Studios and learned more about technique, brush strokes, mixing colors and blending.  Since then, I have applied all that I have learned from those activities and am pretty much self taught.

I paint Anime characters, Abstract, Animals, Scenery, and anything that catches my eye to paint or draw.

I am available for commissioned artwork.

I also am a member of the Broomfield Art Guild.

I am a licensed massage therapist. To book a massage, go to:  https://lakersmassagetherapy.net

I’ve always believed in giving back to my community.  That is why my mission is to support a local charity or two, and possibly more, to align with me in future!

90% of proceeds from my African collection are contributed to this cause.

The charity I am supporting right now is called: Kakuma Mom Rescue LLC.  It was formed to help a South Sudanese Man reunite with his family that was separated for over three decades by insurrection and war. Global Goodwill Ambassador Frank DeDominicis is dedicated to fulfilling a shared vision of reuniting broken families everywhere.

In 2016 William Lokonobei, a South Sudanese "Lost Boy" gentleman befriended Frank and told him that his mom was stuck in Kakuma refugee camp. Then they formed Kakuma Mom Rescue, LLC and launched several music potluck events hosted by Copper Leaf Gardens & Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado and Niwot United Methodist Church. In 2018 KMR sponsored an invite-only art auction. Plans are in motion for new events in June & July!

During the Khartoum revolution the family divided and ran different in different directions, now separated by 30 years by war, insurrection and extremist insurgents.  KMR's mission is to reunite these war torn families and bring those members that are in Sudan over to the USA legally.  This takes alot of time and money, and with the help of Lakers ART we can come closer to getting the money needed to pay for lawyers and all the legal processes necessary to make this all happen.

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
